There were fewer homes for sale across the GTA in August compared to this time last year. New listings dropped by 14.1%, while home sales were down just 2.1%. With fewer properties available, buyers may start seeing more competition in certain areas. If the number of homes for sale continues to shrink, prices could begin to move up again in the coming months.
For now, buyers still have some breathing room. The average GTA home sold for $993,410 in August, which is 2.7% lower than last year, and prices stayed fairly steady compared to July. Many buyers are still being cautious because of concerns about the economy and borrowing costs, but as confidence improves, more people may decide to make their move before competition starts to pick up again.
